We plan the layout around worktops, units and ceiling joists, fit fire-rated IP65 fittings where regulations require (bathrooms especially), and wire in dimmable LED lamps that actually dim smoothly. Existing halogen downlights can be swapped for LED equivalents that cut the running cost by 85%.
